Nichelle Harris Biography
Nichelle Harris, CEO and Principal Education Consultant for Ten Speed Consulting, leverages over 30 years of expertise in organizational management and a deep commitment to emotional intelligence (EQ) to support leaders in the non-profit and education sectors. Her ability to integrate professional skills with EQ principles empowers organizations to build resilience, cultivate authentic connections, and navigate the complexities of serving diverse communities effectively.
Nichelle’s career is defined by her passion for fostering innovation, building meaningful partnerships, and developing leadership with a strong foundation in EQ. She began her journey with the Central Ohio YMCA, quickly advancing from an afterschool program assistant to Youth and Family Director. At the Union County YMCA, she further demonstrated her leadership by developing impactful youth and adult wellness programs as part of the YMCA Leadership Team. Later, as part of the Marysville Exempted Village School District, Nichelle expanded and enhanced Afterschool and Summer Learning Programs, forging long-lasting community partnerships and elevating the quality of services for families and youth.
In 2016, Nichelle became the Executive Director of the Ohio Afterschool Network, where she played a pivotal role in advocating for Afterschool and Summer Learning programs statewide. During her tenure, she secured funding, cultivated strategic partnerships, and oversaw all aspects of nonprofit management, becoming a trusted voice and leader in the field. Her professional achievements include being selected as a C.S. Mott Foundation White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow and further deepened her understanding of public policy and governmental systems.
A sought-after public speaker and educator, Nichelle has shared her expertise across the United States, mentoring and coaching individuals who serve their communities. Her strong social-emotional skills and natural authenticity allow her to form deep connections with those she engages, making her an impactful leader and mentor.
Nichelle’s passion for community engagement extends to her love for cycling. Inspired by a young man named Dean in her 21st CCLC program in Marysville, she co-founded Moving Gears Bike Shop to teach youth bike repair, maintenance, and safe riding techniques. Since then, she has dedicated thousands of hours to hands-on cycling instruction, attended Park Tool School, and earned certification as a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) through the League of American Bicyclists.
Through her work, Nichelle exemplifies the power of combining professional expertise with emotional intelligence, fostering lasting impact in the lives of those she serves and the organizations she supports.
